The swimming action

The QM-G is a heavier build within the QM spoon family, holding a wide, steady flutter on the fall and a pronounced wobble on the retrieve. At 9g it casts much further than the standard QM weights and sinks quickly to reach deeper water.

When to throw it

Suited to larger area-trout lakes and deeper pools where distance and a quick drop are needed, or to bottom-contact fishing when trout are holding low in the water column.

How to work it

Cast it long and let it sink to the target depth, then work it with a straight retrieve or a lift-and-fall along the bottom, pausing to let it flutter down after each lift.

The setup it likes

Suits an L to ML area-trout or light spoon rod, a 2000–2500 spinning reel, 3–5 lb fluorocarbon main line and a short fluorocarbon leader.
