Description

The reins Umbrella Wire SW is a distinctive Japanese saltwater soft plastic rig that lavishly threads reins' Cross Swamp worms onto a wire frame. It spans approximately 150mm across and weighs approximately 5g, and is sold by reins in packs of three.

Its clustered wire arrangement produces a one-of-a-kind balled-up baitfish action, and despite its unusual shape it can be rigged as a Texas rig, free rig or jig head rig, giving anglers a wide range of set-up options in rockfish colourways.

Information

The swimming action

The clustered wire frame bundles multiple Cross Swamp worms into a balled-up baitfish silhouette, producing a unique wobbling, pulsing action unlike a single soft plastic body as it swims or falls.

When to throw it

Suited to saltwater rockfish and structure fishing around rocks, jetties and breakwaters, where a bulky, multi-tailed profile stands out from typical single-worm rigs.

How to work it

Fish it as a Texas rig, free rig or jighead rig; work it slowly along structure with occasional pauses, letting the wire-mounted worms flutter independently.

The setup it likes

Pairs with a 7'–7'6" light-to-medium rockfish spinning rod, a 2500–3000 reel, 6–10lb PE or fluorocarbon main line, and a 5–8lb fluorocarbon leader.
