Nishine BQ Otama 87mm

The Nishine BQ Otama is a tadpole-shaped bass lure — its Japanese name literally means “tadpole” — built around a distinctive swimming action from Nishine's Hiroshi. Bass were striking it so aggressively and swallowing it so deep that a standard treble hook risked injuring the fish, so it ships instead with a purpose-built double hook developed with Ichikawa Hooks, the “Kamakiri Double”.

It's designed to be worked slowly: anglers are advised to wait until they feel the full weight of the fish before setting the hook, rather than reacting to the first strike. The BQ Otama is supplied in six colourways, each finished with the double-hook rig.
