The swimming action

A sinking swimmer with a wobble-swing retrieve and a front-rolling fall, built to draw strikes from large pelagic fish that ignore floating pencils. It stays stable when skipped across the surface as well as when worked on a straight retrieve.

When to throw it

Targets large migratory species and yellowfin tuna from shore or offshore, working the 0-15m column where fish are holding under bait schools or busting on the surface.

How to work it

Works on a straight retrieve at a steady pace, and can be skipped across the surface to imitate fleeing baitfish. The standard eye suits choppy water; swapping to the slide eye gives a calmer, horizontal slide-action in flat conditions.

The setup it likes

A heavy popping/jigging rod rated PE4-8, an 8000-14000 spinning reel or lever drag, PE4-6 braid and a 60-100lb leader.
