The Forest MIU Awabi 5g is an abalone-finish special version of Forest's MIU 5g/8g native spoon, weighing 5g and paired with an OWNER Cultiva S-31 #2 hook. Six of the line's 8 official colourways are offered here, spanning plating-style, fluorescent and glow finishes.

The abalone finish has proven itself in Forest's own field testing, delivering numerous good catches on native trout, and it comes in a lineup that runs from plating-style colours through fluorescents to three dedicated glow finishes.

Shares the native-adapted MIU action, holding a steady swimming depth through both up- and down-current retrieves, with an abalone shell finish added purely for extra flash on the retrieve in coloured water.

When to throw it

Aimed at native trout working mountain streams, main rivers and lakes; the abalone finish has proven itself in the maker's own field testing for extra strikes when fish are wary or the water carries some colour.

How to work it

Retrieve at a steady, even pace, whether working up- or down-current, letting the blade's subtle action and the abalone flash do the work rather than adding extra movement with the rod tip.

The setup it likes

Suits a light native-trout rod (L-ML power, fast taper), a 2000 size spinning reel and 3-6 lb fluorocarbon main line, again fished without a separate leader since native spoons of this weight are cast and retrieved direct.

Australia and the US: 7 to 14 business days on Standard or Economy, 2 to 7 on Express EMS. Europe and the UK: 10 to 20 business days, 3 to 7 on EMS. Every option is priced at checkout before you pay.

Australia: no duty on orders under A$1,000 and GST is already in the price. US: orders under US$800 clear duty-free. EU and UK: VAT is collected at checkout so nothing is due on delivery for standard orders.
