Description

Salty Sensation Neo (ソルティセンセーションネオ) is Evergreen's standard-tier light-game rod series, following on from the ultra-sensitive Salty Sensation line. The NEOS-64L+R-T is one of the series' "Versatile-enhanced" models, built with thicker-walled, mid-modulus 24t/30t carbon in a regular action for extra recovery power across a wider weight and application range.

Length is 1.93m in 2 pieces, standard weight 62g, power rated Light Plus, lure range 0.4-7g, and recommended line PE 0.2-0.5 go / mono 1-3lb. It's built for close-to-mid-range fishing with rigs and lures up to 7g: light jig-head rigs and mid-water sinker rigs for aji (Japanese horse mackerel) and mebaru (Japanese rockfish), small plugs and small metal jigs for mekki (juvenile trevally) and kamasu (Japanese barracuda) games, and light Texas or free rigs for rockfish. The blank is left unpainted (ansanded finish) aside from the butt logo to save weight, and carries Fuji titanium-frame SiC-S guides with an unthreaded top guide for a lighter tip feel.

Thicker-walled, mid-modulus carbon in a regular action gives extra recovery power across a wider weight range than the ultra-sensitive original Salty Sensation, and the unpainted blank finish saves weight for an unusually light overall feel at 62 g.

Built for close-to-mid-range light-game fishing around harbours and rock structure, covering jig-head rigs for aji and mebaru, small plugs and metal jigs for mekki and kamasu, and light Texas or free rigs for rockfish.

How it fishes

Retrieve follows target and rig: a steady lift-and-fall on jig heads for aji and mebaru, a twitched retrieve on small plugs for mekki and kamasu, and a slow drag for rockfish on Texas or free rigs.

The setup it likes

Pair with a 1000-2000 spinning reel, PE 0.2-0.5 go or 1-3 lb fluorocarbon line with a short light leader. Drop to the lighter end of that line range for the most delicate presentations.
