Description

The Last Ace 45 is the 4.5cm micro version of Fukushima Ken's hyper-realistic baitfish swimbait, finished with silver powder dusted under the surface and a clear topcoat for a natural, slick sheen. Original colours have the dark back paint applied only over a narrow area to keep the flanks flashing, while laminate colours layer contrasting materials so the body changes tone as it rolls.

It is designed to be rigged on a nail-weighted hover-strolling set-up for a mid-column presentation, or fished on a dropshot or neko rig for bottom shaking, in situations where a more natural-looking bait is needed to draw a reaction from wary bass.

Information

The swimming action

A hyper-realistic body developed by Ken Fukushima is lifelike enough to fool bass even sitting still, and when a bass gives chase, it flees just like a real baitfish desperately trying to escape. It is finished with silver powder dusted under the surface and a clear topcoat for a natural, slick sheen, with laminate colours changing tone as the body rolls.

When to throw it

Designed for situations calling for a more natural-looking bait to draw a reaction from wary, pressured bass that have seen standard swimbaits before.

How to work it

Rig it on a nail-weighted hover-strolling set-up for a mid-column presentation, or on a dropshot or neko rig for bottom shaking, letting the realistic profile do the convincing rather than an exaggerated action.

The setup it likes

A light to medium spinning rod around 6.5-7ft with a 2000-2500 reel and 6-8lb fluorocarbon suits hover-strolling or dropshotting this realistic swimbait, matched to the bait's casting weight so the rod loads properly on the cast.
