Description

Cham Jig (Cham Jig) is Evergreen's compact light-game metal jig, sized here at 5.0g / 27mm with a #14 hook and #0 ring.

Its official target list is aji, mebaru, seabass, madai, saba, mekki, kamasu, kasago and other small pelagic fish, fished with a basic jerk & fall retrieve on a 6-8ft light game rod, PE 0.2-0.6 and 4-10lb fluorocarbon off breakwaters, rocky shorelines and surf.

The body uses a simple, rounded centre-of-gravity shape that keeps the "small-grain" profile and understated action light-game species favour: a compact dart on the jerk imitates a fleeing baitfish, while a quiet, low-flutter fall gives cautious fish an easy window to bite. It also suits a plain retrieve after sinking to depth, or a shaking retrieve. A mid-shaft treble hook is fitted standard at the tail eye for its hook-up/catch-rate balance.

Information

The swimming action

A simple, rounded centre-of-gravity shape keeps a compact, small-grain profile: a sharp dart on the jerk imitates a fleeing baitfish, while a quiet, low-flutter fall gives cautious fish an easy window to bite.

When to throw it

Fished off breakwaters, rocky shorelines and surf for aji, mebaru, seabass, madai and other small pelagic species feeding on baitfish, typically around dawn, dusk or after dark along structure and current edges.

How to work it

Cast out, let it sink to the target depth, then work it with a basic jerk-and-fall retrieve, watching for the take on the fall. A plain retrieve after it reaches depth, or a gentle shake, also draws bites from less active fish.

The setup it likes

A 6-8ft light game rod with PE 0.2-0.6 running line and 4-10lb fluorocarbon leader is the standard match for this size.
