Description

The Kasago Shokunin Rock Claw 2″ is a claw-type soft plastic lure from Ecogear's rockfish-specialist Kasago Shokunin line, measuring 65mm (2″) with 5 pieces per pack. Its bulky bodyline is set in a compact form with voluptuous claw and leg detailing, and its own weight gives it great castability.

Rig it on a Texas or Carolina rig and its lively movement appeals to kasago (rockfish) when searching around structure. The colour lineup was selected in collaboration with rockfish specialist anglers from across Japan.

Information

The swimming action

A bulky body carrying prominent claw and leg detailing sinks steadily and kicks its appendages as it settles, giving a lively, lifelike silhouette rather than a fast, flashy action. Its own weight is enough to cast well without added weighting on lighter rigs.

When to throw it

Designed for kasago (rockfish) searching around rock and reef structure, effective through the day but most productive when fish are actively hunting close to cover after dark. It is worth carrying a small spread of jighead weights and colours to cover the different current strengths and light levels you meet across a session.

How to work it

Rig on a Texas or Carolina rig and work it with slow lifts and drops around visible structure, letting the claws and legs flutter on the fall; most takes come as the bait settles rather than during the lift. Keep the rod tip low and watch the line closely, since bites from light-game species often show up as nothing more than a faint tap or a slight change in tension.

The setup it likes

A rockfish spinning rod around L power, a 2000 reel, 4-6 lb main line and a 4-6 lb fluorocarbon leader give enough backbone to pull fish clear of structure without overpowering the light bites. A soft, forgiving rod tip helps cushion light hooks and fine leaders so fish stay pinned all the way back to the net or rock ledge.

How is it priced?

We give you the cheapest available price, as we get it directly from the distributors. You pay what an angler in Japan pays, plus postage.
