Information

The swimming action

A slim, tapered body gives the Grass Minnow a distinctive wiggling swim action on the retrieve, staying lively at slow speeds and working equally well in saltwater and freshwater. The shape alone generates the action, so no rod movement is needed to keep it swimming naturally through a drift or a straight retrieve.

When to throw it

A versatile light-game profile suited to aji, mebaru and light seabass fishing around harbours, jetties and river mouths, it covers a wide range of species and situations across its four sizes. Its four sizes cover everything from light-game harbour sessions to general-purpose finesse fishing, making it worth keeping in every size across both fresh and saltwater tackle boxes.

How to work it

Rig it on a jighead, split-shot rig, down-shot rig, or fish it weightless for a natural, unweighted fall, adjusting the rig to match the depth and current of the mark. A weightless, unweighted fall works well over visible fish or shallow structure, while a jighead or downshot rig extends its reach into deeper water or stronger current on the same mark.

The setup it likes

A light spinning rod matched to the size fished — an aji-ing or mebaru rod for the smaller sizes, stepping up to a light general-purpose spinning rod for the L — with 1000-2500 reel, PE0.3-0.8 braid and a 2-8 lb fluorocarbon leader.
