TEMMINCK (テミンク) is the centre-balance, all-rounder model in Eclipse's HOWERULER tachiuo jig line, developed and tested in Tokyo Bay for technical, high-pressure tachiuo (hairtail) jigging. Its three-sided body gives it strong flash and appeal as a search bait, contacting fish on both the retrieve and the fall. It suits one-pitch one-jerk, slow jerk, high-pitch jerk, and straight-retrieve techniques.

This 180g listing is from Eclipse's 2025 Sakuramasu Special edition (a collaboration with Iwaki Tackle), finished in dedicated glow colourways for sakuramasu (サクラマス, masu/cherry salmon) jigging. This listing stocks the colourways shown above.

When to throw it

Built for technical, high-pressure tachiuo (hairtail) jigging tested in Tokyo Bay, it also takes seabass and aomono (blue-backed pelagic fish); step up through the weights for deeper water or stronger current, or reach for the Sakuramasu glow finish when targeting cherry salmon.

How to work it

It suits one-pitch one-jerk, slow jerk, high-pitch jerk, and straight-retrieve techniques, contacting fish through both the jerk and the fall, so keep contact with the jig on the drop rather than feeding out slack line. Keep in contact with the jig through the fall as well as the retrieve, since TEMMINCK's flash and all-round appeal mean strikes can come at almost any point in the stroke.

The setup it likes

A dedicated tachiuo jigging rod or boat spinning/baitcasting outfit matched to the jig weight, PE1.5-3 line, and a wire or heavy fluorocarbon leader to cope with tachiuo's teeth. Carry a small range of weights rather than one, since matching TEMMINCK's centre-balanced flash to the day's current speed and depth matters more than any change in jerk style.
