Eclipse Slight Edge 90

Eclipse's original micro-vibration bait combines a fine micro-shimmy action with a flat-sided body that throws off scattered light reflections, running true through a fast retrieve without blowing out at the surface. That subtlety is the whole point of the design, aimed at fish in heavily fished water that have already learned to ignore a bigger, more obvious wobble from a standard vibration lure.

Built for seabass that have already seen a lot of lures and need something extra to commit, it suits pressured harbours, rivers and surf where a subtler vibration than the norm is what draws a response. It's worth reaching for specifically after a session where more obvious lures have drawn follows but no committed strikes, since a subtler vibration signature is often what closes the deal on pressured fish.

A fast, steady retrieve keeps it running true and stable; it can also be worked with rod-tip flicks for an added flash or dart-style action when fish are following without striking. Keep the retrieve speed consistent enough that the fine vibration stays even, since an erratic retrieve can mask the subtle signal that makes this lure effective on wary fish.

A medium-power seabass spinning rod, a 2500-3000 reel, PE0.8-1 braid and a 12-16 lb fluorocarbon leader suit the 90mm, 18g Slight Edge and its Cultiva ST46 #6 treble. A rod with a sensitive tip helps read the fine vibration coming back through the line, which in turn helps confirm the lure is running correctly before a fish shows interest.
