Suited to both wide-area searching and precise range work at distance, the standard 85 is a versatile all-rounder, while the HiBeat comes into its own in weak current or on slow approaches during cold-water periods, day or night. Both suit fish holding well beyond the range a standard vibration lure can comfortably reach.

How to work it

Work the standard 85 across a range of retrieve speeds to search efficiently at distance; slow the HiBeat right down in cold or slack water so its vibration stays easy to feel. Experiment with speed early in a session, erring slow rather than fast on the HiBeat in cold water.

A medium-power seabass spinning rod, a 2500-3000 reel, PE0.8-1 braid and a 12-16 lb fluorocarbon leader suit both 85mm Power Slight models.
