A swimming spoon built to produce a strong, wide wobble on the retrieve, with the roll action occasionally breaking up on changes in retrieve speed or current to trigger bites from fish that have already seen a few casts. The action stays readable through the rod tip at typical area-pond retrieve speeds, which helps when picking a pace that keeps the lure hunting rather than tracking flat.

A core area-trout model aimed at fresh-stocked trout that charge the lure hard, with a stable hook point designed to keep hook-up rates high on aggressive strikes. It fits comfortably into a rotation alongside other area-trout lures across a normal pond session, from the first cast after stocking through to fish that have settled and grown more selective.

A steady retrieve produces the wide wobble; introduce small speed changes or work it through current seams to break the roll up into the irregular flutter that draws reaction bites. Match the retrieve to water clarity and light — slower and subtler in bright, clear conditions, a touch faster and more animated when the pond is coloured or overcast.

Pair with a light area-trout rod around 5-6ft, a 1000-2000 reel, and 2-3lb fluorocarbon or nylon main line suited to a sub-3g spoon. Round drag settings off soft, since stocked trout are typically lightly hooked in the mouth and a hard drag setting risks pulling small hooks free during the fight.
