Daysprout Mesh 1.1g

A slim-silhouette trout spoon designed to work with the flow of the water rather than against it, keeping a low running attitude that forms an easy wake on surface presentations without breaking free of the water. The action stays readable through the rod tip at typical area-pond retrieve speeds, which helps when picking a pace that keeps the lure hunting rather than tracking flat.

Best fished once things have settled down a little after stocking; despite its light weight it's built for surprisingly long casts, and its slim shape is designed to draw a fresh take from trout whose activity has dropped off. It fits comfortably into a rotation alongside other area-trout lures across a normal pond session, from the first cast after stocking through to fish that have settled and grown more selective.

Fish it slow through a pool on a tension fall with a raised rod tip, letting the lure swim upright through the water column; it's a reliable follow-up bait for fish that have already refused something else. Match the retrieve to water clarity and light — slower and subtler in bright, clear conditions, a touch faster and more animated when the pond is coloured or overcast.

Pair with a light area-trout rod around 5-6ft, a 1000-2000 reel, and 2-3lb fluorocarbon or nylon main line suited to a sub-3g spoon. Round drag settings off soft, since stocked trout are typically lightly hooked in the mouth and a hard drag setting risks pulling small hooks free during the fight.
