Description

The Daiwa TG BAIT BLJ is a tungsten metal jig with a blade added to Daiwa's TG Bait line for blade jigging. Tungsten construction gives roughly 1.7 times the specific gravity of lead, allowing long casts despite a compact size. Its asymmetrical, sardine-inspired shape swims reliably on the retrieve and slides in a near-horizontal posture on the fall to imitate a weakened baitfish. It ships with a BLJ assist hook and a ball-bearing swivel to reduce line twist.

Information

The swimming action

A tungsten metal jig with a blade added for blade jigging. Tungsten's higher density than lead allows long casts from a compact size, and the asymmetrical, sardine-inspired shape swims reliably on the retrieve while sliding in a near-horizontal posture on the fall.

When to throw it

Suited to light jigging sessions where a compact, easy-casting jig with an added blade is needed to imitate a weakened baitfish, covering a range of inshore and light offshore grounds. It suits a normal jigging session from a charter or private boat, worked over marks located by sounder rather than blind-cast from shore.

How to work it

Wind at a steady pace to keep the blade working, and let the jig fall on a controlled line to fish the near-horizontal glide. It ships with a BLJ assist hook and a ball-bearing swivel to reduce line twist. Vary the cadence through a drift to find what the fish want on the day, since jigging response can change from one tide or session to the next.

The setup it likes

Pair with a light jigging rod rated for the jig's weight class, a 2500-3000 reel, PE 0.8-1.2 and a 16-20lb fluorocarbon leader. Set the drag firm enough to turn a strong fish away from structure, and check the leader and assist-hook connections regularly given the abrasive grounds this style of jig is fished over.
