Information

The swimming action

KYOHGA JIG BASIC uses a centre-balance design for a horizontal fall action matched to tachiuo's feeding behaviour, with an HD coating to resist the fish's sharp teeth. The sharply honed head shape cuts water resistance, reducing retrieve drag and angler fatigue over a long session.

When to throw it

Purpose-built for tachiuo (largehead hairtail) jigging from a boat, where fish hold at depth and a jig needs to fall naturally and sideways rather than straight down to draw a confident bite from a constantly shifting feeding window. It suits a normal jigging session from a charter or private boat, worked over marks located by sounder rather than blind-cast from shore.

How to work it

After a jerk the jig performs a natural, sideways-sliding fall that reads as an easy meal rather than an obvious lure. Daiwa recommends pairing it with the separately sold Kyohga Hook or Tachi Jig Hook Issen SS Quattro for strong hook-up and penetration.

The setup it likes

Pair with a dedicated tachiuo jigging rod matched to the jig's weight class, a 3000-4000 spinning reel or small overhead, PE 1-1.5 and a 20-30lb fluorocarbon leader. Set the drag firm enough to turn a strong fish away from structure, and check the leader and assist-hook connections regularly given the abrasive grounds this style of jig is fished over.

Straight answers

How is it priced?

We give you the cheapest available price, as we get it directly from the distributors. You pay what an angler in Japan pays, plus postage.

When does my order leave Japan?

Orders are packed in Japan and handed to Japan Post within 3 to 8 business days. You get a tracking number by email the moment it ships.

How long does delivery take?

Australia and the US: 7 to 14 business days on Standard or Economy, 2 to 7 on Express EMS. Europe and the UK: 10 to 20 business days, 3 to 7 on EMS. Every option is priced at checkout before you pay.

Will I be charged import duty or tax?

Australia: no duty on orders under A$1,000 and GST is already in the price. US: orders under US$800 clear duty-free. EU and UK: VAT is collected at checkout so nothing is due on delivery for standard orders.

Is it genuine stock?

Yes. Every item is genuine, sourced only through authorised distributors — never grey imports or marketplace resellers.
