When to throw it

Suited to covering wide areas of open water to locate active bass, rather than working a single tight spot — points, flats and open banks where a search bait can cover ground efficiently before switching to a more precise presentation.

How to work it

A steady retrieve at cranking depth is the starting point, with occasional twitches or pauses to break the rhythm. SAQSAS-treated #4 treble hooks come standard for improved hook-up and penetration on the strike. Vary cadence and pause length through the retrieve to find what triggers fish on the day, since bass response to a given action can shift from one session to the next.

Pair with a 6'6"-7' medium baitcasting rod, a baitcast reel around 6.3:1-7.1:1, 12-16lb fluorocarbon or 30-40lb braid with a fluorocarbon leader for a balanced search-bait set-up.
