Description

LUVIAS (ルビアス) is Daiwa's lightweight spinning reel line, carrying the catchcopy 「軽さの継承と進化。LUVIAS」 ("The inheritance and evolution of lightness. LUVIAS"). Daiwa's official page marks 2024 as 20 years since the original LUVIAS debuted in 2004, and describes the 24LUVIAS as delivering impressive lightness in hand, smooth and precise control, enhanced sensitivity, and the power needed for demanding catches.

It's built on Daiwa's Air Drive Design (rotor, bail, spool, and shaft) combined with a ZAION Monocoque (MQ) body that Daiwa states provides rigidity, power, and water resistance in a one-piece construction. Daiwa lists applications including area trout, light saltwater games such as ajing, egi squid fishing, seabass, surf casting, and light shore jigging, across the 2000–5000 size range.

The drivetrain

In hand the 24LUVIAS feels light and neutral thanks to Air Drive Design and a one-piece ZAION Monocoque body, so the rotor spins up smoothly and the reel balances well on light rods across the LT and SF size options.

What it's built for

A general light-tackle reel for area trout ponds, light saltwater ajing and egi squid fishing, seabass from the bank, and surf casting or light shore jigging, wherever an easy-carrying, low-fatigue reel suits a full session.

How it fishes

Suits steady finesse retrieves and repeated casting rather than heavy cranking: light jigheads, small spoons, egi and soft plastics all load the gearing evenly. Larger LT4000-5000 sizes take on surf and shore-jigging duty.

Spools and spares

Match the smaller LT2500-3000 sizes to a UL-L rod with 2-4lb nylon or 0.3-0.6 PE for area trout and ajing; step up to LT4000-5000 with 0.8-1.5 PE and 8-16lb leader for seabass and light shore jigging.
