Description

The CERTATE SW (CERTATE SW) is Daiwa's saltwater-specialised spinning reel, developed through extensive field testing in marine environments and built for shore jigging, offshore casting, and saltwater game fishing targeting species such as yellowtail and amberjack, up to larger game fish.

It uses the Airdrive Design rotor for reduced inertia and improved casting and retrieve sensitivity, a full metal monocoque aluminium body for rigidity, Magsealed protection at the pinion and line roller for corrosion resistance, a G1 duralumin drive gear, and a SUS main shaft over 10% thicker than the LT models. Available in SW4000 (H, XH), SW5000 (P, H, XH), and SW6000 (P, H, XH).

Information

The drivetrain

A full metal monocoque aluminium body gives rigidity under heavy saltwater loads, the Airdrive Design rotor reduces inertia for improved casting and retrieve sensitivity, and a SUS main shaft over 10% thicker than the LT models adds extra durability. Nothing about the feel oversells the specification; it simply delivers what a rod or reel built this way should deliver.

What it's built for

Developed through extensive field testing in marine environments, this reel is built for shore jigging, offshore casting and saltwater game fishing targeting yellowtail and amberjack up to larger game fish. Reach for it when the conditions and target species described above line up with your trip, rather than as a one-size-fits-all substitute.

How it fishes

Magsealed protection at the pinion and line roller resists corrosion over repeated saltwater use, while the G1 duralumin drive gear keeps winding power consistent through long fights. Fine details of speed and rhythm are best tuned on the water, since light and clarity change how fish respond to it.

Spools and spares

Pair with a shore-jigging or offshore casting rod matched to the SW4000-6000 size chosen, PE mainline, and a heavy fluorocarbon leader for yellowtail-class and larger game fish. Local conditions and the typical fish size on your water should guide the last details of line and leader choice.
