Information

The swimming action

The Pellet Pellet SS carries a tight, crisp swimming action from a body shaped to match farmed-trout pellet feed. The slow-sinking 1.9g design lets it be worked through the water column, dropped to the bottom, or simply left to sit and drift.

When to throw it

Built for stocked area-lake and pond trout, especially fish that see heavy pressure and key tightly on pellet feed. Useful year-round on managed waters, with the floating F suited to sight-fishing risers and the S/SS models to searching deeper or slower fish.

How to work it

The maker's basic technique is simply cast, retrieve and stop, letting the pellet-like silhouette do the work; it can also be swum, allowed to fall, or dragged along the bottom. A soft, fly-style landing helps trigger a splash-bite from investigating fish.

The setup it likes

An area-trout rod rated to roughly 0.5-3g, a 1000 spinning reel and 2-3lb nylon or fluorocarbon straight through (no leader needed) suit this micro lure's sub-3g weight and the light tippet area-trout rules typically require.
