The GRANDAGE ATLAS BLUE RUNNER is APIA's rock-shore blue-runner line within the GRANDAGE ATLAS series, aimed at fast-running pelagics such as buri (Japanese amberjack), hiramasa (yellowtail amberjack) and kanpachi (greater amberjack). This listing stocks four sizes: the 100H all-round model (targets: buri, hiramasa, sujiara/coral trout and other pelagics up to around 8kg), the 100HH all-round model (targets: hiramasa, kanpachi, mejimaguro/juvenile bluefin, sujiara/coral trout and other pelagics in the ~10kg class), the 106HH/PS plugging-special model built for 60-100g plugs (targets: hiramasa, kanpachi, mejimaguro/juvenile bluefin and other pelagics over 10kg), and the 93HH+/JS model.

Built on TORAYCA T1100G and M40J carbon with NANOALLOY technology and a SHIELD TECH exterior, the blank stores power through a fast-running fish's first, hardest runs and rebounds quickly, so it keeps pressure on rather than going slack between surges.

What it's built for

Aimed at fast-running pelagics such as buri, hiramasa and kanpachi worked from rock shores, this rod is fished when big fish are showing on the surface or holding along current lines within casting range of the rocks. Choose the specific model and size that most closely matches your usual water and quarry before heading out for the day.

How it fishes

Work the all-round 100HH with a mix of casting plugs and jigging, or run the 106HH/PS's plugging-special taper hard on 60-100g surface and diving plugs, retrieving with steady sweeps and pauses to trigger a following fish. Watch how fish respond on the day and be ready to slow down or speed up the retrieve accordingly.

The setup it likes

Pair with a large saltwater spinning reel in the 8000-14000 class, PE #3-6 mainline, and a heavy fluorocarbon leader capable of handling rock abrasion on a running 10kg-class fish. Fine-tune the exact line class and leader strength to local structure and the average size of fish you expect to meet.
