The Abu Garcia MAX X SPINCAST (マックスエックススピンキャスト) is a closed-face spincast reel from Abu Garcia Japan, positioned as an easy first reel: simpler to operate than a spinning or baitcasting reel, with one-touch casting.

Casting is done with the thumb clutch button: hold the button in, raise the rod to the shoulder, swing forward, and release the button around the 10-o'clock position to let line out; after the lure lands, turning the handle clockwise re-engages the retrieve. Because there is no exposed spool or bail, it avoids baitcaster backlash and doesn't need bail-flipping like a spinning reel, making it easy for first-time anglers. Suited to bass fishing and light saltwater casting or sabiki fishing.

The reel ships pre-spooled with 110m of 1.5-go nylon line, ready to fish for bass or sabiki straight away. It has 2 ball bearings, a multi-disc drag system, a graphite body and an ABS front cone, and is rated for both freshwater and saltwater use.
