Description

Abu Garcia BEAST SP (ビースト SP) is a spinning reel built for large-lure casting games, shore jigging and fighting big fish, with gears sized 10% larger than the REVO BEAST SP (aluminum gears on the 3000-4000 sizes, brass on the 5000).

It uses a Power Stack Carbon Matrix drag system with the drag positioned below the spool and three drag washers for higher drag force, plus a drag clicker that sounds as line is pulled out. Salt Shield and HPCR corrosion-resistant bearings, an asymmetrical left/right body, and V-Rotor and V-Spool designs round out the build, with an aluminum handle and soft-touch knob (handle shape varies by size).

Available in 3000S, 3000SH, 3500, 3500H, 4000, 4000H, 5000 and 5000H.

A compact, asymmetrical body keeps the reel balanced despite oversized gearing, and the Power Stack Carbon Matrix drag sits below the spool with three washers for high, smooth drag pressure that announces itself with an audible clicker as line runs out under load from a big, hard-pulling fish.

How it fishes

V-Rotor and V-Spool designs keep the retrieve light despite the reel's oversized 10%-larger gearing, so long sessions casting heavy jigs, poppers or swimbaits stay comfortable in the hand while still leaving plenty of drag pressure in reserve for a big fish's first, hardest run.

Spools and spares

Pair with a medium-heavy to heavy shore-jigging or big-lure spinning rod, PE2-4 braid main line and a heavy fluorocarbon leader, sizing the reel up toward the 5000H for the largest jigs and the biggest fish encountered from rock or boat.
