Smith MISAGO JIG 38g Blue Pink 03 is Smith's rear-weighted slim jig for sea-run trout, at the stated official weight and body length (96mm).

Its thin knife-edge head is designed to sharpen the action off the fall and stabilise the swim across retrieve speeds, while the rear-weighted, slim silhouette — shaped to match baitfish such as sand lance (オオナゴ) and pond smelt (ワカサギ) — is built to hold distance when casting into wind. The maker developed it for sea-run sakura trout (海サクラ) and sea-run amago (海アメ) fishing in Hokkaido, with results also reported in lake trout casting games. Misago Jig is a rear-weighted, slim knife-edge jig that sharpens its action as it falls and holds a stable swim across slow and fast retrieves, tracking like a sand lance or pond smelt rather than kicking wide.

When to throw it

Developed for sea-run sakura trout and sea-run amago fishing from the shore in Hokkaido, and also used in lake trout casting games where a long-casting, baitfish-profile jig is needed.

How to work it

Cast and work with a steady straight retrieve or slow lift-and-fall; it comes without hooks, so anglers fit their own trebles or assist hooks to suit local rules and target size.

The setup it likes

Pairs with a medium-light to medium spinning rod built for jig casting, a 2500–3000 reel, 6–10 lb nylon or fluorocarbon main line or PE0.8–1.2 with a fluorocarbon leader.
