Smith D-Contact 72

The Smith D-Contact 72 is the largest of the original D-CONTACT heavy sinking minnows, measuring 72 mm and 9.5 g with an 18-specific-gravity tungsten weight built into a very slim body. It's the lure that helped popularise heavy sinking minnow fishing on Japanese trout streams, using its own momentum to twist and glide between twitches rather than stalling like a conventional floater or sinker.

That inertia-driven glide keeps the lure moving and visible through the pause, which is when Smith's design intends most strikes to come. The self-weighted design casts a long way even into headwinds and holds its swim through up, cross, and downstream retrieves without blowing out, making it a practical size for bigger pools and stronger flows.
