Description
The D-Contact 50 Type II is a 50mm, 5g hard-bodied minnow from Smith with a heavier, centre-balanced build that makes it fall horizontally and wobble as it sinks, rather than dropping tail-first like the standard D-Contact. Despite the extra weight the sink rate isn't faster, and twitches produce noticeably larger movement. It was brought back into production in 2025 after a hiatus, with a colourway line-up based on the original limited-edition "D-Contact Autumn" model.
It is built as a follow-up option for difficult trout conditions: low water temperatures that reduce activity, slack pools left by low water, heavily pressured rivers, and the finicky fish of early autumn.
