Description
The Smith D-Compact 45 is a 45 mm, 3.5 g heavy-sinking minnow with a fixed tungsten weight, a "he-no-ji" back that sits the buoyancy peak directly above the centre of gravity, and a flat side for a strong inertial flash. It runs with the D-Contact Hook #12 and reaches a reeling depth of around 100 cm in still water — deeper than the D-Contact and D-Incite.
A 50/50 wobble-and-roll gives it plenty of pull on a straight retrieve, while short-pitch flash slides trigger bites even in a small strike zone and hard twitches produce a sharp dart. At 3.5 g it feels light and responsive through the retrieve, making depth control straightforward across a range of trout water.
