Description

CATAPY CLICKER II (キャタピークリッカーⅡ) is the high-appeal version of Smith's CATAPY catfish (namazu, ナマズ) plug, updated from 2024 with a glow-stick socket added to the head as well as the eye. It adds a built-in brass rattle plus a plated, flash-boosting finish on the metal lip (cup) for extra rattle sound and flash appeal alongside the standard non-rattle CATAPY II — useful in daytime, strong wind/chop, inflows, high water, or when scouting new, unpressured spots. All colours use a bone-material body for a clearer, higher-pitched rattle tone.

Double-hook setup for snag resistance (barbs recommended to be flattened for catfish games). Length 68mm, weight 17.1g, floating, rattle-in (clicker) type, double hook #1. Released June 2024.

The swimming action

The Clicker II throws a hard side-to-side kick across the surface, driven by a plated metal lip that adds flash on top of a built-in brass rattle, giving it more racket and glint than the standard, silent CATAPY II.

When to throw it

Its extra noise and flash earn their keep in daylight, strong wind or chop, around inflows, in high or coloured water, or when prospecting new and unpressured spots for catfish.

How to work it

Retrieve it steadily across the surface to keep the rattle and lip working continuously; the double-hook rig is built for repeated snag-heavy casts, and flattening the barbs is recommended for catfish games.

The setup it likes

Suits a stout baitcasting rod rated for heavy topwater, a low-profile baitcaster around 100-150 size, 16-20 lb braid and a short, abrasion-resistant leader.
