An oval-profile jig head from Nories' Gunter series, shaped to slip through cover with less resistance than a round head while still generating an active fall as the skirt and trailer work against the water.

When to throw it

Suited to flipping and pitching heavy cover such as brush, timber and matted vegetation where bass hold tight to structure, particularly when a heavier 1/2oz head is needed to punch through to the bottom.

How to work it

Pitch or flip it into cover and let it fall on a semi-slack line, watching for a jump or tick that signals a take on the way down, then work it with short hops along the bottom.
