Description

The Dappy Sandworm 3.3in (ダッピーサンドワーム 3.3インチ) is Nikko Kasei's soft-plastic imitation of isome (sandworm), formulated with fish oil. Its ridged body is designed to give off micro-vibration and appeal even in low water flow, and it is made from the ultra-soft "Dappy" material to reduce the sense of unnaturalness when a fish bites down.

A floating material component helps reduce snagging, and scent and amino acids are worked into the material to bring it closer to live bait. It can be stored at room temperature in a tackle bag, combining the convenience of a soft-plastic worm with the drawing power of live bait.

The swimming action

The ridged body gives off a fine micro-vibration even in slow or still water, and the buoyant Dappy material lifts the tail so it sways and curls close to a live sandworm's motion rather than lying inert on the bottom.

When to throw it

Suited to bottom fishing over sand, mud or light structure where sandworm is the natural forage, and to situations where anglers want live-bait drawing power without carrying and rebaiting real worms.

How to work it

Fish it with a slow drag along the bottom, small lifts and drops, or dead-sticked on a light sinker rig, letting the floating tail provide the action rather than working the rod hard.

The setup it likes

Pairs with a light bottom or rockfish rod, a 2000–2500 size spinning reel, and a 4–8 lb fluorocarbon leader over light braid or nylon main line.
