Description
SHIOU (シオウ) is a centre-balance, semi-long pilot jig designed by jigging angler Makoto Ono to help anglers quickly identify which lift-and-drop action is drawing bites before switching to a more specialised jig. The centre-weighted shape lets anglers execute deliberate jerks and falls without the jig fighting their intended action, making it a reliable pattern-finder across a range of offshore jigging situations.
The name SHIOU references 鰤𩵭, a character used in the Edo-period Japanese encyclopedia Wakan Sansai Zue to classify a fish described with features resembling a yellowtail.
