Description

The Forest Chaser 1.2g is a trout area spoon weighing 1.2g, paired with an OWNER C'ultiva SBL-31 #6 hook and fitted via a snap. Its centre-ridge shape produces a distinctive micro-vibration, and it's available in Forest Japan's official Chaser colour range.

This micro-vibration action gives the Chaser strong appeal to wary, heavily-pressured trout, and the lure throws a wake readily, making it useful for fishing just under the surface as well as deeper presentations. It still delivers solid action on a dead-slow retrieve, making it versatile for depth-stepping and lift-and-drop techniques alike.

Information

The swimming action

A trout area spoon with a centre-ridge shape that produces a distinctive micro-vibration, strong enough to appeal to wary, heavily pressured trout without an oversized action. It's built to the light, small-hook standard area-lake rules require, so it works within typical stocked-fishery tackle restrictions.

When to throw it

Suited to area-lake trout that have seen standard spoons; it throws a wake easily, making it useful just under the surface as well as at depth. It works well as a change-up bait once trout have seen the same handful of spoons and lures repeatedly through a session.

How to work it

Still delivers solid action on a dead-slow retrieve, so it copes well with depth-stepping presentations and lifting and dropping through the water column. Keep the rod tip low and let the reel do the work, since area-lake trout often follow before committing on the take.

The setup it likes

5'6 inch-6'0 inch UL area rod, small spinning reel, 2-3 lb nylon or fluorocarbon line. A soft tip protects the fine hooks and light lines area-lake rules require while still cushioning a trout's first run on light tackle.
