Description

The Last Ace 80F is the 8.0cm floating model in Evergreen's Last Ace F range, a hyper-realistic soft swimbait built from an elastomer material that combines buoyancy with strength. It has a genuine baitfish silhouette complete with moulded dorsal, anal and tail fins, 3D realistic eyes, and a double-colouring paint-and-print finish that gives the body a lifelike, slimy sheen. A guide hole through the body makes it quick to rig straight with a hook or nail sinker, and it ships in a dedicated lidded tray that protects the delicate fins.

Fished dead-still or with a shake-and-pause on the surface, it imitates a dying baitfish; worked slowly it swims weakly and helplessly, and fast jerks or twitches turn it into baitfish fleeing across the surface, making it a floating secret-weapon bait for bass that have gone quiet on everything else. It carries FECO Eco Tackle certification for JB/NBC tournament use.

Information

The swimming action

Fished dead-still or with a shake-and-pause on the surface, the Last Ace F mimics a dying baitfish: a slow retrieve produces a weak, helpless swim, while fast jerks or twitches turn it into baitfish fleeing across the surface. Built from an elastomer material with moulded fins and 3D realistic eyes, the 80F ships in a dedicated lidded tray that protects its delicate fins.

When to throw it

A floating secret-weapon bait for bass that have gone quiet on everything else, worked as a surface presentation over cover or open water.

How to work it

A single hard jerk on these floating models can send the bait diving with a sound before it resurfaces like prey that has just been attacked, adding a reaction trigger between longer dead-stick pauses.

The setup it likes

A medium spinning rod around 6.8-7ft with a 2500-3000 reel and 10-12lb fluorocarbon suits fishing this floating swimbait dead-still or with slow twitches, matched to the bait's casting weight so the rod loads properly on the cast.
