Evergreen Amazon

The Amazon is a 160mm, 43g floating pencil bait, originally built as a one-off private model by Evergreen bass pro Katsutaka Imae for an Amazon fishing trip, before later being recognised for its performance against big bass in Japanese fields and put into production. It has since been reissued in a dedicated saltwater colour line-up for seabass and other saltwater targets that feed on large baitfish such as konoshiro (gizzard shad).

Despite being a lipless pencil bait, its large plastic body and buoyancy setting give it a water push closer to a swimbait, and it responds sharply to rod work for fast dog-walking, wide side-to-side skiing, and heavy surface splashing. A loud knocking sound is produced on every head shake, and the weighted body combined with the lack of a lip gives it long casting distance for reaching wary, big fish from well outside their comfort zone.
