Description

The Ecogear Power Dart Minnow 90 is a 90mm soft plastic minnow with a thin, dart-shaped profile that produces a sharp darting action paired with a tight, continuous shimmy from the tail. Six baits per pack.

The slender body cuts through the air for long casts, so it's well suited to reaching distant fish-holding water, and it can be rigged on a jighead or paired with a chemical light for extra pulling power after dark.

Information

The swimming action

A thin, dart-shaped profile produces a sharp darting action combined with a tight, continuous shimmy from the tail, giving a lively, erratic profile that stands out from a plain swimming minnow. That combination of profile and action is built to stand out to predatory fish scanning open water or a current seam for an easy meal.

When to throw it

The slender body casts a long way, useful for reaching distant fish-holding water from the shore or a boat, and it can be paired with a chemical light for extra pulling power fishing after dark. Useful across a range of inshore marks - beaches, harbour walls, river mouths and rock structure - wherever the target species are feeding on baitfish or similar prey.

How to work it

Rig on a jighead and work it with a mix of steady retrieve and sharp twitches to trigger the dart-and-shimmy action, letting it pause and sink between bursts. Vary retrieve speed and the length of any pause across a session, since the right cadence on a given tide or light level often takes some finding.

The setup it likes

A medium-power spinning rod, a 3000-4000 reel, 10-16 lb (PE 1-1.5) main line and a 16-20 lb fluorocarbon leader suit casting this bait to range and working it through current. Match rod power and line class to the venue and the size of fish expected, keeping enough reserve in the leader to handle structure and sudden runs.
