Description

The Ecogear Jukusei Aqua Super Dojou S is a 94 mm soft plastic worm shaped like a loach, a bait style that produces well across a range of fishing situations. Its slender, ribbed body catches the water to create a winding swimming action similar to an eel or loach, and it is designed for use on jighead and tenya rigs.

Part of the Jukusei Aqua range, it ships pre-soaked in Ecogear's preservation liquid to keep the plastic supple and scent-active. This S size is available in seven colourways, giving anglers a range of natural and glow options to match local conditions.

Information

The swimming action

Slender ribs run the length of the loach-shaped body, catching the water to produce a winding, eel-like swim rather than a simple straight fall. The motion mimics a small loach working along the bottom, giving predatory fish a lifelike target to track and commit to.

When to throw it

Effective wherever loaches and similar bottom-dwelling baitfish form part of the local forage, commonly fished on tenya and jighead rigs for red sea bream (madai) as well as general bottom-structure fishing for rockfish and other predators holding near the seabed.

How to work it

Fish it slowly along the bottom on a tenya or jighead, using long, slow lifts and controlled falls so the ribbed body has time to develop its winding action; bites typically come as the bait settles rather than mid-lift. Keep the rod tip low and watch the line closely, since bites from light-game species often show up as nothing more than a faint tap or a slight change in tension.

The setup it likes

A tenya or light jigging rod around M power, a 3000-4000 reel loaded with 1-1.5 PE main line and a 3-5 fluorocarbon leader suit the bottom-contact presentations this smaller size is rigged for. A soft, forgiving rod tip helps cushion light hooks and fine leaders so fish stay pinned all the way back to the net or rock ledge.
