The SONICBOOM® SB WAKE 165F is a 165mm, 48g floating wake bait from DUEL built specifically for large seabass (lunker-class fish).

DUEL's MAG BULLET® magnetic weight-transfer system delivers explosive casting distance (up to approx. 65m), and the SB Unit's Real Lens Finish produces a half-permanent gloss with holographic flash to trigger reaction strikes. The lure fishes a 0–50cm depth range.

The Sonicboom SB Wake is a large floating wake bait built specifically for lunker-class seabass. Duel's MAG BULLET weight-transfer system delivers explosive casting distance, and the SB Unit's Real Lens Finish produces a half-permanent gloss with holographic flash to trigger reaction strikes.

When to throw it

Aimed squarely at big seabass working the surface, suiting low-light periods, river mouths and open rock shore where a large wake-throwing profile is needed to draw a lunker fish up. Overcast conditions and a bit of surface chop generally improve results, since the lure is less likely to spook fish holding shallow.

How to work it

A slow, steady retrieve just fast enough to push a wake is usually enough; resist speeding up, since the wake itself is what draws the strike from a big, surface-feeding fish. Small pauses worked into the retrieve often convert a following fish that has not yet fully committed to the strike.

The setup it likes

Suits a 9'-10' MH to H seabass spinning rod, a 5000-6000 reel, PE3-4 braid and a 30-40 lb fluorocarbon leader. Adjust rod power and leader strength up for structure-heavy marks where a hooked fish needs to be turned quickly, or down for open, snag-free water.
