Information

The swimming action

A 1.2mm through-wire frame and a magnetic weight-transfer system give a wide S-curve dive on long jerks and a tighter S-action on short jerks, and the lure still swims a shallow S-curve just under the surface on a plain straight retrieve. The near-horizontal floating posture keeps it sitting flat, which helps hook-up rates when a fish strikes.

When to throw it

Seabass keyed on large baitfish such as gizzard shad and mullet, in river mouths, harbours and brackish water where bigger prey is holding. It suits the periods when large bait schools push into estuaries and seabass key on size over numbers, particularly through the warmer months and around low-light feeding windows.

How to work it

Work long, sweeping jerks for a wide pulling action that draws fish from distance, then shorten the jerks to a quicker, tighter S-action to trigger a following fish into striking. It will also swim well on a plain straight retrieve when a simpler presentation is needed, without losing the S-curve track near the surface.

The setup it likes

A MH spinning or baitcast rod handles the weight and the jerking retrieve this lure is built for. Match it to a 4000 size spinning reel or an equivalent baitcaster, with PE1.5-2.5 braid for casting distance and durability, and a 25-30lb fluorocarbon leader to cope with large seabass around structure.
