The Bassday S.P.M. (S.P.M. 55) is a slender sinking pencil that invites strikes swimming just beneath the surface, developed as a light salt game standard.

It comes into its own in bad weather or when it is difficult to work the surface with a light rig, letting you target better-sized fish. The slender form supports swim, dart, and lift-and-fall retrieves and stays effective on lure-wise fish thanks to its tight swimming action.

The S.P.M. is a slender sinking pencil that runs just beneath the surface rather than on top of it, holding a tight, fine swimming action that stays convincing to lure-wise fish. Its slim form supports a straight swim, a darting cadence, or a lift-and-fall retrieve.

When to throw it

A light salt game standard that comes into its own in bad weather or when it is difficult to work a topwater lure with a light rig, letting anglers keep targeting better-sized fish. Suits harbours, jetties and rock structure after dark or in coloured water.

How to work it

Work it as a straight swim for a subtle presentation, add darts with the rod tip for reaction bites, or lift-and-fall it through deeper water and current seams. Its tight action holds up under close scrutiny from pressured mebaru, aji and kurodai.
