Information

The drivetrain

Body design cues from ZENON and Revo keep the 33mm-spool frame compact and comfortable for Japanese hands, with a pin-lock side plate and MagTrax magnetic brake giving controllable, backlash-resistant casts even for anglers still building confidence with a baitcaster. Build quality and materials are aimed at standing up to repeated casting and fighting fish over years of use.

What it's built for

Suited to general freshwater and saltwater baitcasting, with the SX geared for an all-round balance of speed and power and the BLACKMAX offering a simpler, value-focused build with the same core casting control at a lower price point. Local knowledge of the venue and season helps decide exactly when this gear will out-fish a more general-purpose setup.

How it fishes

Both variants suit a steady, everyday retrieve for general lure work; the SX's PowerDisk drag and higher gear ratio pick up line a touch faster, which is useful when working a lure back quickly or leaning on a hooked fish.

Spools and spares

Pair with a light-to-medium casting rod, 10-16lb fluorocarbon or PE1.5-3 braid with a short leader for saltwater use, matching line strength to the size of fish typically encountered. Fine-tune line and leader strength up or down slightly to suit local conditions and the average size of fish encountered.
