Information

The drivetrain

The round body and Bakelite 2-pin centrifugal brake give a traditional, hands-on casting feel, with the brake needing to be set by touch rather than through a modern dial-in system, so early casts are best kept short and controlled while the feel of the reel is learned.

What it's built for

Suited to general round-reel bass and freshwater casting from bank or boat, and works well as an accessible entry point into classic Ambassadeur tackle for anglers who want the vintage look and mechanical feel without paying a true vintage-reel price tag for the privilege.

How it fishes

The 5.3:1 gear ratio suits a steady, direct retrieve rather than a fast one; set the drag before the cast and keep an even, positive wind once a fish is hooked, letting the reel's simple mechanicals do their job without over-adjusting mid-fight.

Spools and spares

Pair with a matching-power casting rod in the medium range and 10-16lb monofilament or fluorocarbon line, stepping up leader strength whenever fishing around cover, and expect to spend a session or two learning the brake before casting at full distance.

Straight answers

How is it priced?

We give you the cheapest available price, as we get it directly from the distributors. You pay what an angler in Japan pays, plus postage.

When does my order leave Japan?

Orders are packed in Japan and handed to Japan Post within 3 to 8 business days. You get a tracking number by email the moment it ships.

How long does delivery take?

Australia and the US: 7 to 14 business days on Standard or Economy, 2 to 7 on Express EMS. Europe and the UK: 10 to 20 business days, 3 to 7 on EMS. Every option is priced at checkout before you pay.

Will I be charged import duty or tax?

Australia: no duty on orders under A$1,000 and GST is already in the price. US: orders under US$800 clear duty-free. EU and UK: VAT is collected at checkout so nothing is due on delivery for standard orders.
