Description
The Maria BOAR SS170 (ボアー SS170) is a downsized, PE4-class version of Maria's rock-shore jerkbait for blue-water pelagics (aomono), built for anglers working exposed shore structure. It measures 170mm and weighs 60g, is a slow-sinking type, and ships without hooks or rings fitted.
Like the larger BOAR, a short-jerk retrieve produces a side-to-side slide-dart action to trigger strikes from trailing pelagics, while a medium-speed retrieve brings out a strong wave-roll action. A magnet weight-transfer system aids casting distance into headwinds and rough weather.
Recommended tackle: a 10ft shore plugging rod (100g cast max), a 6000–14000 size spinning reel, PE3–6 line with 60–140lb nylon leader, a #2/0 treble or a 3–5g single hook, and a Maria Fighters Ring Oval #7.
