The Xesta ABARE IWASHI (カミテール暴れイワシ) is a shad-tail worm built around Xesta's Kami Tail System — a proprietary ultra-thin film sheet (0.025–0.05mm) that adds flash and action beyond standard worm material — designed to hold a stable wobble-roll action even on a dead-slow retrieve or fall.

This 1.75in size (5 pieces per pack) is sized by Xesta for mebaru (rockfish), kamasu (barracuda) and aji (horse mackerel); the brand also sells a larger 2.75in size for shaku-mebaru (trophy-class rockfish), rockfish and flatfish. Available in 10 colourways for the 1.75in size.

The swimming action

The Kami Tail System's ultra-thin film sheet embedded in the body adds extra flash and holds a stable wobble-roll action even on a dead-slow retrieve or a slow fall, rather than needing speed to work.

When to throw it

Sized at 1.75in for aji, mebaru and kamasu around structure and current lines, mainly worked after dark or in low light from harbours, rock walls and jetties where these light-game species hold.

How to work it

Rig on a light jighead and work with a slow, steady retrieve or let it fall on a semi-slack line, watching for a take on the drop. The wobble-roll action holds up even at a crawl, so there is no need to speed up to keep it working.

The setup it likes

Suits a dedicated aji/mebaru light-game rod, a 1000–2000 size spinning reel, PE0.3–0.6 or 2–4 lb fluorocarbon main line and a light fluorocarbon leader matched to a 0.5–2g jighead.
