Description

ICECUBE is TICT's mebaru (rockfish) rod series. This listing stocks two models: IC-83TT and IC-710TPS.

IC-83TT is a tuned model of the "Rockin' Slash," reworked from the ground up with a longer length, more power and a revised carbon blank. It keeps the original's ultra-fine tubular tip for high operability and sensitivity, plus a whip-like taper for casting lures far offshore, while adding the precision and power to work everything from jigheads to plugs and metal lures. Built for anglers chasing quality-size mebaru across rocky shore, rubble shallows, tetrapod zones or wading. Length 8'3" (251cm), 2-piece, closed length 127cm, weight 84g, tip diameter 1.05mm, butt diameter 9.1mm, tubular tip, rig weight 0.8–12g, PE line #0.1–0.4. Ships with a 30g (10g×3) balancer fitted as standard at the butt end, adjustable to suit the reel.

IC-710TPS is built around the concept of "a rod that properly shapes mebaru plugging," a model dedicated to plug-based actions. It sets hollow plugs solidly on the blank for long casts with bounce-back power and an outstanding cast feel. Its ultra-fine tubular tip reads tidal flow clearly even with light plugs, giving the operability needed for delicate action work, while butt power and flexibility handle larger mebaru too. Length 7'10" (244cm), 2-piece, closed length 127cm, weight 82g, tip diameter 1.1mm, butt diameter 8.5mm, tubular tip, rig weight 0.8–11g, PE line #0.1–0.6. Note: the TICT custom balancer cannot be fitted to this model.

Information

The blank

ICECUBE blanks carry an ultra-fine tubular tip into a firmer mid and butt section, so light jigheads and plugs load smoothly through the cast while the tip stays fine enough to read the lightest bites. The IC-710TPS is further tuned to set hollow plugs solidly on the blank for a strong cast feel.

What it's built for

Built for mebaru around rocky shore structure, rubble shallows, tetrapod breakwaters and wading marks, mainly from dusk into the night when rockfish move shallow to feed. The IC-83TT's extra length and power suit longer casts to offshore structure, while the IC-710TPS is the dedicated plugging model.

How it fishes

Work jigheads on a slow lift-and-fall or dead-slow retrieve and let the tip telegraph taps as fish intercept the fall. With plugs, use a gentle twitch-pause cadence so the fine tip can read tidal flow and keep the lure holding its lane.

The setup it likes

Pair with a 1000–2000 size spinning reel, PE 0.1–0.4 running line and a 1–2 lb fluorocarbon leader, matched to jigheads and plugs from around 0.8 g up to 12 g of rig weight.
