Description

The Jackall Big Backer 107HW is the heavy-weight version of the Big Backer 107, matching the same 107mm body to a heavier 35g casting weight. It is part of Jackall's Big Backer range, first released in 2012, and produces the same tight, high-frequency metal vibration through the retrieve as the rest of the line-up.

The extra weight is built for deep-water targeting and longer casting distance from the shore, and it's fished for seabass, yellowtail, Spanish mackerel and flathead.

The swimming action

A slim, long metal-vibration body produces a tight, high-frequency buzz through the retrieve, with enough sink rate to reach the strike zone quickly on a cast, holding that vibration even at a fast retrieve speed.

When to throw it

A shore-casting vibration lure for seabass, yellowtail, Spanish mackerel and flathead, matching the bigger sizes in the range to larger anchovy and sardine baitfish patterns and the smaller sizes to finer bait.

How to work it

Cast and retrieve at a steady pace to feel the vibration, adjusting retrieve depth by counting down after the cast, or add occasional pauses to trigger a following fish.

The setup it likes

Suits a shore-jigging or seabass spinning rod around M-MH power, a 3000-4000 reel, PE1-1.5 or 12-16 lb main line, and a fluorocarbon leader of similar or slightly heavier strength.
