The issei 海太郎 根魚玉 (Umitaro Nezuodama) is a rockfish jighead built around an irregular, multi-faceted "octahedron-based sphere" head finished in silver plating for flash. The head is smooth and flat from front to underside with no sharp corners, so it rides up and over rocks instead of wedging into crevices, letting anglers work snag-prone bottom aggressively. The flat underside keeps the jig stable without rolling on slopes up to 40 degrees, while on steeper slopes it can be rolled deliberately to trigger strikes. The flat front face creates water resistance on the fall and on the retrieve, producing a wobbling action that works the lure on both the drop and the retrieve. A carefully tuned line eye rights the head immediately when line tension is applied even after it lands on its side, letting it oscillate in place like a pendulum. The hook is a Cultiva multi-offset hook with a fluorine coating for penetration.
