Description

The Presso Attra (プレッソ アトラ) is a trout spoon for area/pond fishing from Daiwa's PRESSO line, developed under trout-spoon specialist Tatsuya Takada. It has a wobble-roll action that pivots at the front and swings wide at the rear – Daiwa named it "Attra" after the English word "attractive" because its fast start-up and wide action are effective at pulling in nearby fish. It works from dead-slow through to a fast retrieve, and lets the angler add extra action deliberately through rod work and reeling speed.

The silhouette is pressed slightly front-wide with a deep cup so the tail swings widely from the moment it starts moving, and the barrel-finishing after pressing is kept light so the edge stays sharp for a clean bite on the water. The stock hook uses Daiwa's SAQSAS surface treatment, a fluorine-based plating that Daiwa states improves hook-up penetration by up to 40% (about 20% on average) over conventionally painted hooks, for picking up light bites and short strikes.

Daiwa's own weight guide: 1.8g is the standard for typical pond conditions, 1.5g for a slower retrieve, and 2.3g for a faster one. All three weights share a 25mm body, a Presso Single Hook SS Speed #6, and a 4.3mm split ring. This listing is the 1.8g size, Daiwa's standard weight for this spoon.

What makes it different

Built to fish, not just to sell

The swimming action

A wobble-roll trout spoon that pivots at the front and swings wide at the rear, giving a fast start-up and a wide action from the moment it hits the water. The front-wide, deep-cup silhouette keeps the tail swinging widely across a broad range of retrieve speeds.

When to throw it

An area/pond trout spoon suited to typical stocked-water conditions; Daiwa's own guide treats 1.8g as the standard weight, 1.5g for a slower retrieve and 2.3g for a faster one, so choosing a weight is really choosing a retrieve pace. It fits comfortably into a rotation alongside other area-trout lures across a normal pond session, from the first cast after stocking through to fish that have settled and grown more selective.

How to work it

Works from dead-slow through to a fast retrieve, with extra action added deliberately through rod work and reeling speed. The SAQSAS-treated hook is aimed at converting light bites and short strikes into solid hook-ups. Match the retrieve to water clarity and light — slower and subtler in bright, clear conditions, a touch faster and more animated when the pond is coloured or overcast.

The setup it likes

Pair with a light area-trout rod around 5-6ft rated for micro spoons, a 1000-2000 reel, and 2-4lb fluorocarbon or nylon main line. Round drag settings off soft, since stocked trout are typically lightly hooked in the mouth and a hard drag setting risks pulling small hooks free during the fight.
