Description

The Xesta PPJ UPDATE (パワーピッチジャーク アップデート) is the renewal of Xesta's power pitch jerk rod series — previously sold as the Slow Emotion PPJ — updated for the first time in roughly eight years. Xesta states the update increases power and durability strength, widens the jig-weight range each model can handle, adds a more durable Ocean Blue blank finish, and thickens the EVA grip for extra protection.

Blanks use Toray Torayca T1100G carbon with a titanium MNST (SiC) top guide, titanium KW (SiC-S) tiptop and titanium RV (SiC-S) butt guides. This listing covers the B60-PPJ (150–350g high-pitch / 500g slow-jig max), a regular-slow model for mid-deep slow jigging through to shallow high-pitch work on large grouper and yellowtail, and the B57-PPJ (180–400g high-pitch / 600g slow-jig max), built for a more natural jig action when targeting kingfish and medium-class bluefin tuna.

What makes it different

Built to fish, not just to sell

The blank

Toray Torayca T1100G carbon blanks with titanium SiC/SiC-S guides throughout; the B60-PPJ is a regular-slow model bridging mid-deep slow jigging with shallow high-pitch work, while the B57-PPJ gives a more natural jig action for kingfish and medium bluefin.

What it's built for

An updated power-pitch-jerk series for offshore slow jigging, with the B60-PPJ suited to large grouper and yellowtail and the B57-PPJ suited to kingfish and medium-class bluefin tuna, both refreshed after roughly eight years.

How it fishes

Works high-pitch jigs from 150–400g and slow jigs up to 500g or 600g depending on model, favouring rhythmic jerk-and-fall jigging over a steady wind, with the thickened EVA grip protecting against repeated rod loading.

The setup it likes

Pair with a large lever-drag jigging reel, PE3–5 mainline and a heavy fluorocarbon leader suited to deep structure, choosing the B60-PPJ for grouper and yellowtail or the B57-PPJ for kingfish and tuna.

FAQ

What does the power rating (UL, L, M, MH) actually mean?

JDM power letters often run lighter than the same letter on a US or Australian blank. The honest spec is the lure-weight range in grams on each listing — match that to what you throw, and use the letter as a tiebreaker.

How do I read Japanese rod lengths?

Japanese lengths are written in feet and inches as a decimal: 6.6 reads as 6 feet 6 inches, not six-point-six feet.

One-piece or multi-piece for travel?

Two-piece and telescopic travel rods pack shorter and ship more easily. One-piece blanks feel cleaner, but long parcels can attract courier length surcharges and some carriers route them more slowly.

What warranty or service do imported rods have?

There is no local service centre for a JDM rod. Repairs go back to Japan, usually with a fee and a multi-week turnaround — we state that plainly so you can weigh it before you buy.

Will a one-piece rod cost more to ship?

It can. Long parcels attract courier length surcharges on some routes and can move through fewer carriers. Any shipping cost shows at checkout before you pay — no surprises after the order.
