Description

SPEED STICK (スピードスティック TSS) is TENRYU's bass series, reborn with contemporary technology and materials from a series that was popular in the early days of bass fishing in Japan.

The blanks use low-modulus carbon for a glass-rod feel at light weight across a wide lure-weight range. Guides are K-type with SIC-S rings and stainless frames, and the baitcasting reel seats use an off-set handle. Target species: bass.

The blank

Low-modulus carbon gives Speed Stick TSS a glass-rod feel at a light overall weight, loading progressively through the blank so bass hold on longer during a strike, with K-type SiC-S guides on stainless frames keeping the cast smooth.

What it's built for

A reborn bass series covering the full range of techniques — pinpoint casting under trees on the shortest model, topwater and shallow cranking, deep divers and lipless cranks in weed, and big topwater plugs, wire baits and frogs on the longest, most powerful model.

How it fishes

Match retrieve to model: work poppers and walking baits on the shorter TSS#1 models, steady-wind crankbaits on the TSS#2, and slow-rolled spinnerbaits or buzzbaits on the longer TSS#3 and TSS#4 for maximum torque.

The setup it likes

Pair with a 6.3:1–7.1:1 baitcasting reel spooled with 12–20 lb fluorocarbon or braid, sized up with the rod's power for heavier cover and bigger lures.
